IEB Candidate Nominations Cap Busy Day Three at UAW Constitutional Convention

Photo of elected delegates during day three of the UAW's 39th Constitutional Convention in Detroit, MI, on June 17, 2026.

In a jam-packed third day of the UAW’s 39th Constitutional Convention, delegates nominated candidates for this year’s International Officer elections, voted to expand the definition of what constitutes a retiree under the UAW Constitution, and elected an International Trustee.

Delegates also participated in robust discussions on numerous other amendments and resolutions as the convention body continues to set the direction of the union for the next four years.

According to the UAW Monitor’s Election Rules, IEB candidates who are nominated by the delegates and accept the nomination must be vetted by the UAW Monitor before they are officially candidates for office. Those who accepted nominations today are:

UAW President: Rich Boyer; Shawn Fain; Tricia Geiger; Brian Keller; Will Lehman; and Greg Mooney.

UAW Secretary-Treasurer: Brandon Campbell; Roc Ciers; Margaret Mock.

UAW Vice President: Mike Booth; Laura Dickerson; Rachael Dickinson; Eric Fleming; Kevin Gotinsky; Ryan Hiestand; Kisha Richardson; Matt Slade; Tony Totty; Mike Turner; Robert Wright.

President and CEO of the NAACP, Derrick Johnson, delivered a fiery speech, calling on the labor movement to engage in the political process this November to protect our fundamental rights currently under attack. “In this moment, the concept of solidarity is more important now than ever…,” Johnson told delegates. “The fight we are in is not against each other. The fight we are in is for the future of this nation and for working men and women across this country.”

Congresswoman Debbie Dingell, a longtime ally of the UAW and working-class Michiganders, praised the union’s recent accomplishments and urged members to keep up the fight. “The UAW has always been strongest when it’s been bold,” Dingell said. “When it’s fought, not just for its own members, but for all working people.”

The UAW posthumously honored civil and labor rights icon, Rev. Jesse Jackson, with the union’s Social Justice Award. His son, U.S Congressman Jonathan Jackson, accepted the award on his behalf.

“In 1984 and again in 1988, my father traveled across this nation, building what he called the Rainbow Coalition,” Jackson said. “He reminded autoworkers in Detroit that they had more in common with teachers in Atlanta, janitors in Los Angeles, farmworkers in California, and nurses in Chicago than they did with those who sought to divide us by race, region, religion, or background. He understood a simple truth: When working people stand together, America stands taller.”

Delegates also elected UAW Local 838 Financial Secretary Stacie Loveless to serve as an International Trustee. She will serve a 12-year term.

The final day of the convention will convene at 9 am tomorrow morning.
