Our Mission

Our UAW Education program is the engine that drives our union forward.  Our team works strategically to provide high quality training, materials, and educational opportunities throughout the year to our membership.  Through education, we empower strong local unions and equip them to effectively fight and win on behalf of the working class.

Who We Are

The UAW Education Department is a department of the International Union, UAW, which serves under the leadership of the International President.

Our UAW Education team is comprised of a talented group of union educators spanning all regions of our union.  Every UAW region has a designated Education Representative who serves as the primary point of contact for regional education activities. A portion of our team is also based at our headquarters in Detroit.  Together, we provide a wide range of educational offerings to our members, including national, regional, and local opportunities.  We work closely with local union education committees and with trained Local Union Discussion Leaders (LUDLs) to continuously grow and expand access to union education programs at every local union.

We are continuously evolving to meet our members where they are on their union education path.  This includes creating relevant training curricula, designing online courses, writing publications, and developing other vital resources and tools to support our members.  Whether you are a new member looking to learn the basics, a seasoned member looking to deepen your activism, a local bargainer striving to win gains for members on the job, a grievance handler working to improve your representation skills, or an elected officer working to master your role, our UAW Education team is here to support you!

Accessing UAW Education

Our department hosts a range of in-person and online workshops, regional conferences and schools, and various national education events.  We host several leadership institutes and conferences throughout the year at the UAW Family Education Center at Black Lake. Your training path begins with talking to your local union leadership or education committee.  Contact your local union for information on how to attend in-person workshops and conferences.

UAW members are invited to use this website to access important information and useful materials to develop their union education and activism.  Here, you can explore multiple digital publications, descriptions of various training opportunities, and more.  The UAW Education Department is excited to be part of your learning journey!
