Welcome, UAW Delegates!

This website has the essential information you’ll need for the Constitutional Convention:

Get familiar with this information so you’re ready for the important work ahead. As UAW delegates, you’ve been elected to consider constitutional resolutions and amendments submitted by the members, and the decisions you make will shape our union for years to come.

As our convention theme says, this is “Our Generation’s Defining Moment.” It comes 90 years after the defining moment of the UAW’s founding generation.

When the UAW’s Constitutional Convention was held in April 1936, the union had just 27,000 dues-paying members and was struggling to organize.

Despite all the challenges those UAW delegates faced, they paved the way for the Sit Down Strike later that year — a strike that transformed the auto industry, jumpstarted the labor movement, and laid the foundation for the American Dream.

This year, we come to Detroit knowing the UAW can again do great things. Since the last Constitutional Convention in 2022, we launched the Stand Up Strike, eliminated tiers at plants like Daimler Truck, and secured COLA protections in new sectors, including higher education.

Across our industries and departments — including IPS, Aerospace, Agricultural Implement, Technical, Office & Professional, and Gaming — we fought for and won our fair share. We organized Volkswagen workers, negotiated record-setting contracts, and welcomed tens of thousands of new members into our union.

Together, these victories have strengthened our union, giving us expanded power to fight corporate greed and to deliver for the membership and the entire working class.
