Brazilian Activists, American Unions Protest Award for Brazilian Judge

New York City, NY – American unions will join the Defend Democracy in Brazil Committee in Manhattan tomorrow to protest commemoration of the judge who investigated, prosecuted, convicted and sentenced popular former President Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva, known as Lula. Lula is appealing the conviction and 12-year jail sentence. Despite his imprisonment, he is seeking the presidency as a leader of the Workers Party, and he is the front runner. UAW activists from Region 2B hold breakfast, meetings on Capitol Hill

On Tuesday, January 26, UAW Members from Region 2B gathered for breakfast in Washington, D.C., in the the aftermath of Winter Storm Jonas. Dozens of members from Ohio and Indiana had been fortunate enough to make it into the capital before the worst of the storm hit and the conference was officially canceled. DETROIT — The UAW commends the Senate for reaching a bipartisan agreement and passing legislation to extend Emergency Unemployment Compensation (EUC) benefits.  As our economy continues to recover, the EUC program provides critical support to job seekers and their families.  It is now Speaker Boehner’s turn to take action immediately in the House of Representatives. 600 volunteers from UAW-Ford and local high schools to assemble food boxes containing uncooked items for a complete holiday meal as food giveaway part of national program providing 17,000 meals across the country DETROIT – The UAW-Ford National Program Center (NPC) will again help local families in need this holiday season.
