Thank you for providing the May 20, 21, and 22 dates to resume bargaining. All three Bargaining Committees will be available for each of those dates. The fact that the Hospital is now willing to set meeting dates with the UAW is encouraging.
In your email, you request the UAW to come prepared with proposals to present. The UAW asks the Hospital to do the same. On April 18th, the Union Membership overwhelmingly rejected your last best and final offer. The UAW immediately notified the Hospital of the key issues, and the response was;
“…that its last, best, and final offer was just that. It will not modify its proposals.”
Since the ratification vote, the UAW has made several attempts to discuss the key issues with the Hospital, only to meet the same resistance. The Union has always been willing to bargain and still is. We do not believe that impasse has been reached.
For the sake of our patients, our members, our hospital, and our community, the Union hopes Mercy is now willing to consider the key issues identified by the Union and will continue bargaining to reach a fair and equitable Agreement for both the Hospital and our Members.
UAW leadership has also reached out to the Federal Mediator and he is available for all three dates. He has offered assistance in finding a neutral location for the parties to meet.
As we have stated, all three Bargaining Committees will be present. Please provide the UAW with a list of who will be attending the bargaining sessions for the Hospital.
