UAW Vice President Cindy Estrada appeared on a televised town hall last Monday night. The event, titled Inequality in America, was hosted by Vermont Senator Bernie Sanders and invited a variety of experts to discuss solutions to our nation’s growing economic inequality.
Cindy Estrada discussed the role unions have played in building the middle class and what it will take to strengthen trade unions going forward. Estrada said, “I think there needs to be policy change, but we have to get workers a seat at the table and fight on their behalf every time we see someone who comes in and tries to bust a union or pass legislation that’s anti-worker.”
Other panelists included Massachusetts Senator Elizabeth Warren, economist Darrick Hamilton and filmmaker Michael Moore.
