Today is Veterans Day and the UAW joins the rest of the country in remembering those who have so honorably served our nation in wartime and in peacetime. Remembering those who have made the ultimate sacrifice and saying “thank you” is only the beginning of how we should pay tribute to our veterans.
The best way to honor veterans is to fulfill the commitments to care or our serrvicemembers while they serve and to our veterans when they return. This should not be a political issue and America’s commitment to those who have served should not end when their service ends. We must work to expand veterans’ benefits and do more to meet their needs. It is a priority and an obligation to veterans and their families that we, as a country, see to it that they get the best care they deserve for the sacrifices they’ve made to make America the great country that it is.
UAW locals have a proud tradition of aiding veterans. Your commitment to helping veterans is truly one of the proudest traditions of our union. Thank you for all that you’ve done and continue to do.
To all veterans: We support you and we will continue to fight for the rights of veterans throughout the year. Thank you for everything you’ve done and for your service to this great country.
