UAW political activists to gather in Washington

WASHINGTON – More than 1,400 active and retired UAW members will gather here from Jan. 24-27 for the union’s National Community Action Program (CAP) Legislative Conference.

The conference will take place at the Marriott Wardman Park Hotel at 2660 Woodley Road, N.W., in Washington.

UAW delegates from across the United States, Canada and Puerto Rico will discuss the union’s legislative and political priorities for the coming year, meet with members of Congress to advocate on behalf of working families and prepare for the union’s 2016 electoral campaign.

UAW President Dennis Williams will address delegates on Wed., Jan. 27, and UAW members are scheduled to spend Jan. 26 meeting on Capitol Hill with members of Congress.

UAW members also will focus on a variety of the union’s priorities, including:

  • The right to organize and bargain collectively
  • International trade
  • Jobs, the economy and health care
  • Energy and the environment; and
  • Defending workers’ rights.

Conference sessions are open to credentialed news media. Request for credentials for any day of the event must be received by 8 a.m. ET, Sunday, Jan.24.
