It is the second consecutive Truck of the Year award for Colorado, the mid-size pickup introduced as a 2015 model.

Motor Trend editors praised the Camaro for its lighter weight, which contributes to “world-class sports car performance and dynamics.”

The Colorado is produced in GM’s Wentzville Assembly plant in Wentzville, MO. The plant employs 3,484 hourly workers building the Chevy Colorado, GMC Canyon, GMC Savana and Chevrolet Express. The workers at Wentzville Assembly are members of UAW Local 2250 in Region 5.

“This is the second  straight year for the Colorado and that says a lot about the quality and popularity of this vehicle,” said UAW Region 5 Director Gary Jones, “It also says a great deal about the UAW Local 2250 members in Wentzville, Missouri, who build it. We are all very proud of the craftsmanship and what this means for the region and the industry.”

The Camaro is built at GM’s Lansing Grand River Assembly plant in Lansing, MI. The plant employs 1,121 hourly workers building the 2016 Camaro and Cadillac CTS and ATS models. The workers at Lansing Grand River Assembly are members of UAW Local 652 in Region 1D.

“We are extremely proud of UAW Local 652 members in Lansing, Michigan, who do a super job in building the Camaro,” said UAW Region 1D Director Gerald Kariem, “No doubt it is a great vehicle and worthy of this recognition, but what we are really excited about is knowing the UAW members helped to make this happen.”

“It is rewarding to see hard work pay off for UAW Local 652 members in Lansing, Michigan, who produce the Camaro, and Local 2250 members in Wentzville, Missouri, who build the Colorado,” said UAW Vice President and Director of the UAW’s GM Department Cindy Estrada, “The men and women behind these products exemplify the commitment UAW members have in building quality products that consumers trust and love.”
