UAW Local 1558 and Spirit AeroSystems Announce Increased Production
UAW Local 1558 members at Spirit AeroSystems announced with the company an increase in production which brought equipment from Mexico to the U.S. The plant—which manufactures parts for commercial and military airplanes—announced the opening of a second fabrication center in McAlester, Oklahoma. Spirit brought 18 machines from Mexico after collaborating with UAW Local 1558 to increase plant capacity. The company is open to adding more equipment if demand continues to rise.
“I am proud of the brothers and sisters of Local 1558 for bringing these jobs back from Mexico to McAlester at Spirit AeroSystems,” said Ernie Russell, President of UAW Local 1558. “We committed ourselves to producing as well or better quality work than could be done in Mexico. We are excited about the expanded work and so is the McAlester community which benefits our local economy. UAW members are working hard to not only make this a success, but we believe we are making the case for even more work to come back home to McAlester.”
