DETROIT – The 36th UAW Constitutional Convention will take place Monday, June 2, through Thursday, June 5, at Cobo Hall in Detroit.

Approximately 1,100 delegates from UAW local unions in the United States, Canada and Puerto Rico will debate and vote on policy resolutions and proposed constitutional changes. Delegates at the convention, which is held every four years, will elect international officers, including a new president, secretary-treasurer, vice presidents and regional directors on Wednesday, June 4.

Press credentials: Media members from established news organizations can request press credentials by sending an email to Michele Martin ([email protected]). The deadline for media credential requests is Thursday, May 29, 2014. The e-mail should contain:

  • A PDF attachment on company letterhead from the media member’s supervisor requesting credentials.
  • The PDF should include the media member’s name and position, his or her supervisor’s name and an email and daytime phone number where the request can be confirmed, if necessary. The request should be signed by the supervisor.

Approved members of the press must wear a UAW-provided press badge at all times during the convention. Press registration and badge pickup will be held from noon to 7 p.m., Sunday, June 1, and each day of the convention beginning at 8 a.m. in Cobo Hall, Room 357. To obtain the press badge, media members approved for credentials must present either a press identification from an established news organization and a legal photo I.D. (e.g., driver’s license) to receive their credential.

Cobo Hall has free wireless access throughout the center and there will be a media workroom with a TV monitor to watch live convention proceedings. Electronic copies of UAW Convention publications provided at registration will be available on uaw.org.

For more information, contact Michele Martin, [email protected] or call the UAW Public Relations and Publications Department at (313) 926-5291 from 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. (EST).
