Greetings UAW brothers and sisters,

As we prepare to enjoy this Thanksgiving holiday, I’d like to take a moment on behalf of the President’s Office and the International Executive Board to wish all our UAW family members a happy and safe Thanksgiving spent with the people you love. This is always a special time of the year — a time to be thankful for what we have and a time to share with others as so many of you do.

We are in the final stretch of this Big 3 bargaining season with only FCA still at the table. These 2019 negotiations have truly been historic. We were reminded of the solidarity and strength of our membership during the longest automotive strike in 50 years. Our GM brothers and sisters stood strong on picket lines across this country in heat, rain and cold and toughed it out on strike pay. And tragically, a couple of our GM brothers and sisters lost their lives out on the line. I’d like to remember them here: They stood as you all did for the American worker. They marched for all of us. Our prayers go out to their family and friends. Additionally, I’d like to acknowledge the outpouring of support for our strikers from communities and fellow union brothers and sisters across this country. America’s people had our backs in this just cause.

Likewise, I am always proud to say that we had America’s back by way of the countless hours that our union brothers and sisters contribute every year to their communities through good works. UAW members build wheelchair ramps, participate in clothing, food, and sleeping bag drives. We support women’s shelters, school districts and many, many more projects, too numerous to list here. Know as you sit down to that turkey and stuffing, that your hard work and good will makes a difference for so many.

Thank you brothers and sisters and all the best to you and yours this holiday season.
