Union Sportsmen’s Alliance, UAW Help Improve Access to Flint River

Via Union Sportsmen’s Alliance: Anglers and paddle-sports enthusiasts of all ages and physical abilities are enjoying better access to Michigan’s scenic Flint River, thanks in part to a $7,000 donation raised during the inaugural Union Sportsmen’s Alliance (USA) United Auto Workers (UAW) Region 1-D Conservation Dinner. The funds, along with a matching grant from the Michigan Economic Development Corporation (MEDC), helped fuel the creation of the new Paddler’s Landing public access in Mott Park Recreation Area in Flint. Local 1853 members reel in service to their local community’s children

Sometimes something as basic as going fishing can remind a child that they matter. Members of UAW Local 1853 and Region 8 partnered with the Union Sportsmen’s Alliance (USA) and the Tennessee Wildlife Resources Agency at the Tennessee Children’s Home Spring Hill Campus recently to drive that point home. Local 1853 members spent time planning for the event then took a couple hundred of the home’s residents fishing for the Spring Hill Area Take Kids Fishing Day, which included a day of help fishing, time-worn tips on how to catch that elusive big fish and new fishing poles. USA’s 2017 UAW Calendar Photo Contest

As you know, the UAW is a charter member of the Union Sportsmen’s Alliance (USA).  Once again, USA will be producing a series of beautiful full color calendars for the gun-a-week drawing for 2017 that will exclusively feature UAW members’ photos in various outdoor activities such as hunting, fishing, etc. These calendars make great gifts and can also be purchased and used for fundraising activities.  Even better, our members have the opportunity to be featured in the Union Sportsmen’s Alliance’s 2017 UAW calendar and show off how they enjoy the great outdoors alone, with friends or with family.
