Detroit Mayor thanks UAW for being part of the city’s comeback

The UAW’s 37th Constitutional Convention opened this afternoon with a robust welcome by Detroit Mayor Mike Duggan extending a big thank you to the union for the good work members continue to do. Approximately 1,100 delegates are attending the convention. The event is held every four years to conduct the union’s business, including electing International officers. Today marks the 54th Anniversary of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr.’s “I have a dream” speech. Looking back at the values that motivated Dr. King’s leadership in the civil rights movement and struggle for jobs and justice, it’s clear that Americans are still striving to make this dream a reality.
