Today is a sad day for hard working Americans that help build our great country and keep us moving forward. Statement from UAW President Dennis Williams on the nomination of Merrick Garland to the U.S. Supreme Court

Today, President Obama nominated Merrick Garland to fill the seat on the U.S. Supreme Court left empty by the recent passing of Judge Antonin Scalia. Garland is a distinguished, moderate judge with more federal judicial experience than any other Supreme Court nominee in history. The Senate GOP leadership is refusing to give Judge Garland a full hearing and vote. We call on the GOP leadership to set politics aside and fulfill their constitutional duty to provide a hearing and vote for the president’s nominee. Our American judicial system deserves nothing less.
