UAW Statement of President Rory L. Gamble on Health and Safety Standards Regarding the Reopening of Worksites

“The UAW continues to review with great caution and concern decisions being made about restarting workplaces, especially at advanced dates.” These decisions should be informed by data and where each state is on the contagion curve. The UAW maintains that strict CDC guidelines need to be adhered to at all worksites and that prior to reopening sufficient data and protections are in place to ensure the safety of our members, their families and the public. The only guideline in a boardroom should be management asking themselves, “Would I send my family — my own son or daughter — into that ... Read more

Labor Voices: Unions protect members, communities

Statement by UAW President Rory Gamble on Gov. Whitmer’s stay at home order

“The difficult decision by Governor Whitmer, and other Governors to issue stay at home orders will in fact not only save lives but speed up the timetable to get our workforce back up and running at capacity. The sooner we can limit exposure and ‘flatten the curve’, the sooner all American’s can go back to work, school and our daily normal routines. It’s a tough decision, but a necessary one.” Learn more about the COVID-19 / Coronavirus disease >>>
