2022 National CAP Conference: Day 3 Highlights

Region 4 members meet with Senator Tammy Baldwin (D-WI) The morning gets busy Day three of the National Cap Conference began as the delegates attended Regional breakfasts to plan their lobby day.  Among elected officials who also shared breakfast with UAW delegates were Senator Sherrod Brown (D-Ohio), Elissa Slotkin (D-MI 8th),  Debbie Dingell (D-MI 12th) and Rashida Tlaib (D-MI 13th) among others. Jeff Binz Elected UAW Region 9 Director

Buffalo, N.Y. — Jeff Binz was elected UAW Region 9 director today at a 2018 UAW Region 9 Special Convention, in Buffalo, New York, to fill the remaining term of former director Terry Dittes, who was elected as a UAW Vice President in January 2018. Springtime is here and as we prep our gardens and landscapes for the new season, we’re reminded that some of our UAW members have quite unique jobs. So today, we highlight our members at the Cornell Botanic Gardens at the Cornell University College of Agriculture and Life Sciences in Ithaca, New York, representing UAW Region 9, Local 2300. UAW regional director praises Governor Cuomo’s “Buy American” plan announced during State of the State address

(New York) – UAW Region 9 Director Terry Dittes says Gov. Andrew Cuomo’s new proposal to mandate state entities to buy American-made products is the right move for American workers and will greatly benefit the nation’s economy. During today’s 2017 State of the State address, Gov. Cuomo announced widespread legislative reforms under his “Buy American” plan requiring New York state procurements over $100,000 to give preference to American-made goods and products. GM annouces $552 million investment for key UAW plants

General Motors today announced investments of $552 million for key U.S. manufacturing facilities located in Tonawanda, Lockport and Rochester, N.Y.; and Parma, Ohio. Running for veterans

Western New York UAW Members Host Race for Vets UAW members in Western New York state continued their efforts to support area veterans’ organizations with the 17th Annual Veterans’ Appreciation 5k Run on Nov. 5. The run, which raised over $15,000 for veterans’ causes, was organized by the UAW Region 9 Western New York Veterans Committee and held at UAW Local 686 in Lockport, New York. Committee Chairman Guy Newell, president of UAW Local 774 in Tonawanda, New York, said there were 140 runners from all over, including Canada.
