UAW Merges Additional States into Region 8 and Region 4

The UAW International Executive Board (IEB) voted on December 5 to merge the states represented by UAW Region 5 between UAW Regions 4 and 8. This merger became effective today, February 28, 2020. Detroit — The UAW International Executive Board (IEB) voted on December 5 to merge the states represented by UAW Region 5 between UAW Regions 4 and 8. Local 2250 sends area kids to school with the tools they need

The start of school is an important time for kids and having the materials they need to succeed makes all the difference. Thanks to UAW Local 2250 members at General Motors’ Wentzville, Missouri, Assembly Plant, hundreds of kids who might not otherwise have had those materials will be all set this year. Over the summer, local 2250’s Community Service Committee collected supplies and cash, and worked with the United Way and other community organizations to provide 300 school backpacks to area school children. UAW Members: Giving Big Assistance With Tiny Homes for Homeless Vets

UAW Local 249’s Wheelchair Ramp Crew and the UAW-Ford Department are going strong in their sixth year of helping hundreds of area homebound veterans with their latest ramp building project. The crew also spends time working for Habitat for Humanity and VCP (Veterans Community Project). For the past several weeks the team has been tackling homelessness among veterans with phase two of the Veterans Village project, creating 12 transitional, tiny homes for vets. UAW Local 1558 and Spirit AeroSystems Announce Increased Production

UAW Local 1558 members at Spirit AeroSystems announced with the company an increase in production which brought equipment from Mexico to the U.S. The plant—which manufactures parts for commercial and military airplanes—announced the opening of a second fabrication center in McAlester, Oklahoma. Spirit brought 18 machines from Mexico after collaborating with UAW Local 1558 to increase plant capacity. NLRB Issues Complaint Against Tesla

Complaint supports workers’ charges that Tesla’s conduct and confidentiality agreement violate their rights Oakland, CA  – The National Labor Relations Board (NLRB) handed down a complaint today (attached) that supports allegations made by Tesla workers in an April unfair labor practice charge that the company violated their rights. The NLRB found merit to allegations by workers that the company had violated their rights by requiring them to sign an overly-broad confidentiality agreement that could bar them from talking about their working conditions and safety issues at the facility. What is a Bargaining Committee?

UAW members are represented at the bargaining table by their bargaining committee.  The committee is elected pursuant to the local union bylaws, and their size and composition varies depending on the size of the local and the nature of the agreement. The committee’s job is to attend all negotiating meetings, and do the necessary research and fact-finding to ensure that member’s interests are protected. The committee should also be aware of member priorities and concerns and be prepared to update membership when appropriate. UAW Members Build 2015 Truck of The Year

UAW Local 2250 members have something to be very proud of:  the General Motors Wentzville, Missouri plant workers build 2015 Motor Trend’s Truck of the Year.  The award was announced this week and it recognizes the best “all-new or significantly updated trucks and vans for the upcoming model year.”  It competed against nine other vehicles and was the hands down winner.
