Local 2250 sends area kids to school with the tools they need

The start of school is an important time for kids and having the materials they need to succeed makes all the difference. Thanks to UAW Local 2250 members at General Motors’ Wentzville, Missouri, Assembly Plant, hundreds of kids who might not otherwise have had those materials will be all set this year. Over the summer, local 2250’s Community Service Committee collected supplies and cash, and worked with the United Way and other community organizations to provide 300 school backpacks to area school children. GM Announces $20 Million Investment in Arlington Assembly Plant

General Motors announced Monday an investment of over $20 million in the Arlington, Texas assembly plant that employees 4,500 members. Arlington Assembly⁠—first opened in 1954⁠—is the sole producer of the Chevrolet Tahoe and Suburban, GMC Yukon and Yukon XL, and the Cadillac Escalade. MGM Guest Service Representatives Vote to Join UAW

NLRB Certifies Election and Right to Proceed and Bargain LAS VEGAS – The NLRB certified Friday that 57 MGM Guest Service Representatives who work in the slot department of the casino have successfully voted to join the UAW. UAW Members: Giving Big Assistance With Tiny Homes for Homeless Vets

UAW Local 249’s Wheelchair Ramp Crew and the UAW-Ford Department are going strong in their sixth year of helping hundreds of area homebound veterans with their latest ramp building project. The crew also spends time working for Habitat for Humanity and VCP (Veterans Community Project). For the past several weeks the team has been tackling homelessness among veterans with phase two of the Veterans Village project, creating 12 transitional, tiny homes for vets. UAW Navistar Members Ratify Significant Contract Bring End to Tiered Wages

UAW Navistar members have voted to ratify a new six-year contract. The UAW negotiating team secured significant economic and benefit improvements including the elimination of all tiered wages, profit sharing, pension plan improvements, and a “no closing agreement” which includes language to retain the contract if the company is sold or merged. UAW to Welcome 4,740 Academic Researchers in California

The UAW welcomed 4,740 employee Academic Researchers into the union earlier this week when project scientists, researchers, specialists and coordinators of public programs at the University of California voted to join the union. The California Public Relations Board verified that a majority of the Academic Researchers have chosen the UAW as their union. UAW Local 1558 and Spirit AeroSystems Announce Increased Production

UAW Local 1558 members at Spirit AeroSystems announced with the company an increase in production which brought equipment from Mexico to the U.S. The plant—which manufactures parts for commercial and military airplanes—announced the opening of a second fabrication center in McAlester, Oklahoma. Spirit brought 18 machines from Mexico after collaborating with UAW Local 1558 to increase plant capacity. 150 Bon Appétit Employees Serving Employees of Airbnb Unite Through UAW

On Friday February 9, 2018, nearly 150 Bon Appétit Management Company food service employees working at Airbnb ratified a first time union contract with the UAW (United Automobile Workers). UAW Region 5 wins V-CAP award after raising more than $2 million

After 19 previous wins, it came as no surprise that UAW Region 5 members won this year’s V-CAP award. The award was presented by UAW President Dennis Williams and UAW Secretary-Treasurer Gary Casteel to Region 5 Director Gary Jones, whose region raised more than $2 million. And, as it has happened all 19 times, more than 1,100 CAP delegates cheered Region 5 members as Jones accepted the award on their behalf. NLRB Issues Complaint Against Tesla

Complaint supports workers’ charges that Tesla’s conduct and confidentiality agreement violate their rights Oakland, CA  – The National Labor Relations Board (NLRB) handed down a complaint today (attached) that supports allegations made by Tesla workers in an April unfair labor practice charge that the company violated their rights. The NLRB found merit to allegations by workers that the company had violated their rights by requiring them to sign an overly-broad confidentiality agreement that could bar them from talking about their working conditions and safety issues at the facility.
