UAW Statement on the FCA Announcement of Additional Production in the United States

“The UAW has had an ongoing dialogue with FCA, dating back prior to the 2015 negotiations about the trucks moving back to U.S. production from Mexico and the additional jobs that come with it. The UAW is committed to working with FCA to increase domestic production that will increase employment for our members in our communities. New FCA Mopar Parts Distribution Center Opens

Today, Fiat Chrysler Automobiles (FCA) opened a parts distribution center in Romulus, Michigan. The plant will produce over 45 million parts per year, and will provide parts to smaller regional distributors across the country.   The distribution center will bring over 100 jobs and a $10.4 million investment to metro-Detroit. The facility features state of the art manufacturing technology and is LEED certified.   This is the second new parts distribution center FCA has built in the United States this year. Ford Invests $350 Million, Creates or Protects 800 Jobs, Adding New Fuel-Efficient Transmission to Michigan Plant

DEARBORN, Mich., May 19, 2017 – Ford is investing $350 million in its Livonia Transmission Plant, adding a new transmission to expand its lineup of fuel-efficient powertrains as part of the company’s plan to fortify its core automotive business. The company will create or retain 800 hourly jobs to support production of the new transmission. Ford expects to begin adding jobs late this year, with the majority coming next year and in 2019. GM’s Lansing Grand River Assembly to Add Third Shift and More Than 500 Jobs

DETROIT – General Motors is adding a third shift and more than 500 hourly and salaried jobs at Lansing Grand River Assembly to meet forecasted market demand for the award-winning 2016 Chevrolet Camaro. The addition of a third shift will increase the plant’s workforce to approximately 2,300 when hiring is completed. The sixth generation Camaro, which began shipping to customers in November, as well as the award-winning Cadillac CTS and ATS are also produced at Lansing Grand River.
