Proposal to end lockout to be presented to Honeywell workers

SOUTH BEND, Indiana – About 360 UAW-represented workers at Honeywell Aerospace will be presented with a proposal next week that would end a six-month lockout if approved. The proposal, which was completed Friday, will be presented to about 320 members of Local 9 in South Bend and 39 members of Local 1508 in Green Island, New York. The corporation, which locked out the workers on May 9, has been using scab workers to make brakes and wheels for its military and commercial customers. “Over the past two days UAW Local 9 and UAW Local 1508 bargainers met in good faith with Honeywell to bargain a fair and equitable contract. UAW members once again asked Honeywell to end its lockout and put our members back to work. Despite UAW members making a good faith effort to return to bargaining with Honeywell, the company, through a press release issued Aug. 27, continues to show that it does not intend to end the lockout that has affected nearly 360 working men and women.
