Local 1853 members reel in service to their local community’s children

Sometimes something as basic as going fishing can remind a child that they matter. Members of UAW Local 1853 and Region 8 partnered with the Union Sportsmen’s Alliance (USA) and the Tennessee Wildlife Resources Agency at the Tennessee Children’s Home Spring Hill Campus recently to drive that point home. Local 1853 members spent time planning for the event then took a couple hundred of the home’s residents fishing for the Spring Hill Area Take Kids Fishing Day, which included a day of help fishing, time-worn tips on how to catch that elusive big fish and new fishing poles. UAW welcomes Magna Seating Members: Spring Hill Plant Votes Overwhelmingly to Join UAW

Spring Hill, Tenn. – By a nearly unanimous vote workers at Magna Seating International, a new facility in Spring Hill, Tenn. voted last evening to join the UAW International Union. GM Invests Additional $788.7 Million in Spring Hill Manufacturing

Brings total announced investments in Tennessee to $936.7 million in 2016 Bay City Powertrain operation to get $118 million to support engine project SPRING HILL, Tenn. — General Motors will invest $788.7 million for an all-new, high-efficiency engine program, as well as projects to modernize the vehicle programs at its Spring Hill Manufacturing Plant, creating 792 and retaining 16 jobs. GM Investing nearly $150 million in Spring Hill Plant

General Motors will invest nearly $150 million in its Spring Hill manufacturing plant. The investment will repurpose machinery and assembly equipment to allow the plant to build V8 engines, retaining about 200 jobs, according to a news release. In Victory for Spring Hill Workers and Families, UAW and GM Announce Cadillac SRX As New Product for Spring Hill Manufacturing, $191 Million Investment in SGE Program

Spring Hill, Tenn. – Today, in a victory for Tennessee’s workers and families, UAW International and Local 1853 joined with executives from General Motors to announce the Cadillac SRX as one of two future mid-size vehicles set for manufacturing at the Spring Hill plant, as well as a $191 million investment at the Spring Hill Complex for a new Small Gas Engine (SGE) program.
