UAW Cosponsors with KISS-FM, EMG Foundation on Sleeping bag drive to benefit homeless

KISS-FM radio host Mildred Gaddis Countless people are facing staggering statistics of homelessness throughout the country in 2020.  According to the National Alliance to End Homelessness, 8,351 people are homeless on any given night in the state of Michigan alone.  That is why the UAW joined and the EMG Foundation to cosponsor a sleeping bag drive for the homeless. UAW Region 1A members reach out to homeless, provide new sleeping bags

Detroit – As a day of service on the Martin Luther King Jr. holiday, UAW Region 1A Director Gamble and members from the region will take it to the streets and to the area’s homeless population. Many homeless Detroiters won’t go to shelters so deliveries will be made directly to the people where they live. The sleeping bags are designed to handle temperatures as low as 17 degrees below zero.
