Detroit – UAW President Ray Curry called on Mexican labor authorities and General Motors Friday to take all necessary steps to ensure that the upcoming union election at GM’s Silao plant in Mexico is democratic, transparent, and free from intimidation. Statement on Protocols After Meeting With the COVID-19 Task Force

Detroit – Out of an abundance of caution, the COVID-19 Joint Task Force, comprised of the UAW, Ford, General Motors and Stellantis, has decided to continue to require workers to wear masks at the worksite until the Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) issues guidelines in response to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention’s (CDC) recent change in Covid-19 workplace standards. UAW Mourns the Passing of Retired UAW Vice President Dick Shoemaker

Former UAW Vice President Richard Shoemaker passed away Friday March 12 at the age of 81. Shoemaker served as UAW Vice President for three terms including an assignment overseeing the UAW General Motors Department. Shoemaker, born on October 6, 1939, joined the UAW in 1957 right out of high school when he began working at Deere & Co.
