In Flint, Michigan and throughout the nation, there has been justifiable outrage over the decisions made by state elected and appointed officials in the handling of the water crisis. Because officials put cost savings ahead of the health of Flint residents, thousands have been poisoned, and several deaths are suspected due to extended and excessive exposure to contaminated toxic water. GM, UAW commit $3 million to United Way of Genesee County

 Five-year grant to fund health and education programs for Flint children FLINT, Mich. (Feb. 9, 2016) – The United Way of Genesee County today announced a joint effort made by General Motors and the United Auto Workers (UAW) to donate $3 million to support the increased health and education needs for the children of Flint who have been impacted by lead-contaminated water. UAW Members Send Clean Drinking Water to Flint Residents In Need

Do you or your local want to help Flint residents? Contact the UAW’s Labor Liaison with the United Way, Teresa McGinnis, at uawlaborliaison@unitedwaygenesee.org FLINT, MI — Members of the UAW from around the state will be donating truckloads of water to Flint residents affected by the city’s water emergency. UAW locals from around the state have contacted the Flint Assembly UAW Local 598 to ask how they could help residents.
