Gary Jones Elected Next UAW President

Today, UAW delegates from across the country came together, electing Gary Jones to be the next President of the UAW International Union. Jones currently serves as Director of UAW Region 5, and hails from O’Fallon, Missouri. Elected on the same slate were incoming Secretary-Treasurer Ray Curry, current Vice Presidents Cindy Estrada and Terry Dittes, and incoming Vice President Rory Gamble. The new officers will be sworn in on Thursday, closing out the 37th Constitutional Convention.

2,000 UAW Members Rally to Support Fuyao Workers

Two thousand UAW members, Dayton-area residents, family members and supporters from throughout Ohio and Indiana turned out today to show support for Fuyao Glass Plant workers who on Oct. 16 filed a request with the National Labor Relations Board (NLRB) for a representation election at the Ohio plant. On Tuesday, the NLRB set the election for Nov. 8-9 at the plant.

Nissan Union Vote Set for Aug. 3-4 in Mississippi

Rankin elected Director of UAW Region 2B Indiana and Ohio

(Maumee) – At a special regional leadership meeting Thursday, Rich Rankin was elected to fill out the remaining term as Regional Director of the UAWs Indiana and Ohio membership. Volkswagen Skilled Trades Employees Vote Overwhelmingly For UAW Local 42

 URGE VOLKSWAGEN TO RESPECT DECISION CHATTANOOGA, Tenn. — Skilled trades employees at Volkswagen’s Chattanooga plant have voted overwhelmingly to designate UAW Local 42 as their representative for the purpose of initiating collective bargaining. In a two-day election on Thursday and Friday, 152 skilled trades employees cast ballots. The National Labor Relations Board (NLRB), which supervised the election, confirmed that 71% of employees voting favored recognition for Local 42. CHATTANOOGA, Tenn. — The UAW today released the following statements reacting to the decision by the National Labor Relations board to order a representation election for skilled trades employees at Volkswagen’s Chattanooga facility despite the company’s efforts to block the election.
