UAW Members Head to Nation’s Capital for CAP Conference

Hundreds of UAW members are gathering in Washington D.C. Sunday, Feb. 2 through Wednesday, Feb. 5, for the 2020 National Community Action Program (CAP) Conference. The four-day conference theme is “Fighting for Tomorrow-Preparing Today” and will highlight the UAW’s legislative and political priorities for 2020. This year’s conference will focus on the 2020 elections, international trade, job creation and other issues of importance to working families. Members will gather information, plan and strategize during workshops on current policy issues. UAW members who had already arrived in D.C. determined to make the most of the opportunity

Earlier this week, UAW President Dennis Williams announced that the 2016 UAW CAP Conference in Washington, D.C., would be canceled due to safety concerns after Winter Storm Jonas covered much of the East Coast in near-record levels of snow, shutting down roads, airports and public transportation. However, UAW members who had already arrived in our nation’s capital were determined to make the most of the opportunity. UAW political activists to gather in Washington

WASHINGTON – More than 1,400 active and retired UAW members will gather here from Jan. 24-27 for the union’s National Community Action Program (CAP) Legislative Conference. The conference will take place at the Marriott Wardman Park Hotel at 2660 Woodley Road, N.W., in Washington. UAW delegates from across the United States, Canada and Puerto Rico will discuss the union’s legislative and political priorities for the coming year, meet with members of Congress to advocate on behalf of working families and prepare for the union’s 2016 electoral campaign.
