GM Takes Next Step Toward Future with Self-Driving Vehicle Manufacturing in Michigan

DETROIT — After more than a year of building test vehicles for development of its self-driving technology, General Motors today announced it will build production versions of its Cruise AV at its Orion Township assembly plant in Michigan. Roof modules for GM’s self-driving vehicles will be assembled at its Brownstown plant. UAW Members at Local 5960 to Build Autonomous Vehicles

DETROIT —  General Motors announced today that workers at UAW Local 5960, Orion Township assembly plant will build test fleet Bolt EVs equipped with fully autonomous technology. The plant currently manufactures the Chevrolet Bolt EV and Sonic. The new equipment will include LIDAR, cameras, sensors and other hardware designed to ensure system safety, leveraging GM’s proven manufacturing quality standards.
