Region 9A has created the UAW Region 9A Hurricane Relief Fund to collect support for members devastated by hurricane Fiona in Puerto Rico.  Much of the island remains without electricity or water.  Region 9A Director Beverley Brakeman has been in communication with UAW local presidents on the island. Though most of our members are living without electricity or water and dealing with tremendous flooding, they are safe and remain optimistic about their ability to rebuild.

President Curry and the International Union are working with the AFL-CIO and other labor unions to identify ways in which we can provide immediate relief to people on the island. Water is the most urgent need, but with time we expect there will be many other needs due to the number of homes, roads and community spaces that have been ruined by flooding.

If you are able, please make a contribution to UAW Region 9A Hurricane Relief Fund. Checks can be made payable to the fund and sent ATTN: Lynne Stephenson at UAW Region 9A, 111 Founders Plaza, Suite 1703, East Hartford, CT 06108.

As communication becomes more open, Region 9A will be discussing with UAW leaders in Puerto Rico how best to use these funds to assist.
