“The UAW stands firm with the workforce at Fuyao in Dayton as, obviously, there continues to be serious health and safety issues in the plant,” said Ken Lortz, director of UAW Region 2B.
“The fact that OSHA would announce over $226,000 in fines after eight safety inspections for things like personal protective gear, machine hazards and electrical and chemical exposures is a rare and serious situation. Fuyao’s blatant disregard for the health and safety of workers cannot go unchecked. The UAW will continue to support the workers who brought these issues to the attention of OSHA, and all workers, as they seek a real and lasting solution to these and other concerns in the plant. That solution, these workers believe, is forming their union so they have a voice in Fuyao’s future.”
