Historically, this conference has been held at the UAW Walter and May Reuther Facility Education Center in Onaway, Michigan. However, the moderate size of the National Community Service Conference made it a natural to be held at the Pat Greathouse Education Center, which is a smaller venue.
One of the highlights of the conference was a session that encouraged members to share what works in their local community services committees.

This was the first time members from other regions were able to attend the Education Center that Region 4 members are fortunate to have access to throughout the year. International Staff members Scott Birdsall, Yvonne Cash, Sandra Engle, Frank Gates, Tom Savage and Bradley Schwanda did an awesome job making this conference a success. Community Action Program (CAP)Representatives Tony Garcia and Kelli Harrison gave a presentation on the Trans- Pacific Partnership (TPP). After their presentation, all the delegates present wrote letters to their respective U.S. Senate and House lawmakers, voicing their opposition to the trade agreement.
One of the highlights of the conference was a session that encouraged members to share what works in their local community services committees. Discussing the pros and cons of each local’s programs was beneficial to all; and locals with fledgling committees were able to take an abundance of information back to their membership. This was a perfect example of how our members can teach other members how to help strengthen and grow our union. The conference was very well received by all the delegates in attendance. Region 4 would also like to thank the UAW Education Department for offering members across the country the opportunity to experience the Pat Greathouse Center.
