The start of school is an important time for kids and having the materials they need to succeed makes all the difference. Thanks to UAW Local 2250 members at General Motors’ Wentzville, Missouri, Assembly Plant, hundreds of kids who might not otherwise have had those materials will be all set this year. Over the summer, local 2250’s Community Service Committee collected supplies and cash, and worked with the United Way and other community organizations to provide 300 school backpacks to area school children. Each pack was filled with loads of essentials, including pencils, paper, pencil pouch, notebook, paint, pocket folder, crayons, scissors, sheet protectors, eraser, earbuds, markers, Post-it notes, ruler, Kleenex, calculator, pens, hygiene bag and glue. A-plus, Local 2250.
