Retiree Dues: You get a lot in return
As we get older, the less we need the hassle of trying to figure out how to contact the right people to get a health care-related bill settled. Your voluntary $2 retiree union dues accomplishes so much for so many. The Retired Workers Department is funded totally by your dues dollars. The International has been able to establish 47 drop-in centers along with councils across the nation. They are staffed by retired workers who volunteer to be trained and serve their fellow retirees at a time when they need it most. You will not find another union in the world that services its retired workforce like the UAW does. Please remember that the dues you pay funds all of these services and meetings across the county. Recently our union opened two new drop-in centers, one in Baltimore and another in Atlanta. You are the heartbeat of this union. The voluntary $2 dues matters to every UAW retiree. You can find the location of the drop-in centers, including hours of operation and phone numbers and International chapters, by going to www.uaw.org and clicking on the UAW Retired icon, which will take you to the new retirees section of the Web site. You can even get a dues check-off card on the new section of the Web site that you can fill it out and return it to the UAW Retired Workers Department. Grace McNatt
