Join the effort to tell Washington: We're not numbers
A lot of decisions are being made about the livelihoods of workers connected to the auto industry. While many in the mainstream media devote the lion's share of coverage to the Wall Street side of the equation, a Detroit classic rock radio station wants government leaders to know that it's about more than numbers -- it's about real people.
Many of those real people have taken the time to send comments and photos to the Detroit radio show Deminski & Doyle on WCSX, (94.7 FM). The show hosts started "Faces, Not Numbers," which is designed to draw attention to the human side of the economic downturn that caused the crisis in automobile manufacturing. These folks are auto workers, families, retirees, supplier workers, everyone who is being hurt by this crisis.
Deminski and Doyle are putting together a banner with pictures of all those affected and will unveil that to the administration, either when President Obama visits Detroit or they might take it to Washington themselves.
Even thought the station is based in Detroit, auto workers and others affected by the industry from all over the country are invited to participate. You can add your photo to the WCSX banner by visiting the web site at "Faces Not Numbers."
