Construction of Memorial Walkway at Black Lake is under way
The legacy of the Reuther brothers connects active and retired UAW members to our union's storied past and our hopes for the future.
It helps us to remember why we're active in our union and what it means to be a union member. It's one of the reasons a Memorial Walkway is being built at the Walter and May Reuther UAW Family Education Center on Black Lake in Onaway, Mich.

Construction on the walkway, which will connect the memorial area to the Japanese Bridge, has started but there's still time to purchase a brick for yourself or in the name of someone else. You can become a permanent part of the endless natural beauty of the facility as well as add your name to many who work hard for workplace fairness and social justice.
If you've ever been to the center, you cannot help but be inspired by the setting, as well as the works of Roy, Victor and Walter Reuther.
"Our active and retired members know the Reuthers helped build our union into a highly effective voice for working people," UAW President Ron Gettelfinger said. "Honoring them with a walkway honors our past and honors those who continue our struggle."
