Air and Water Releases

Environmental Protection Agency
The EPA has a complicated search engine that provides access to a number of databases. Enter the name of a facility and click the "AIRS facility Subsystem" to obtain air permit information. Use the "TRIS" data on this site to download information on the pounds of specific chemicals that are released to the air. The system is slow and unreliable. (Updated 08/02/04)
RTK Net
Check RTK Net for a simple way to search the Toxic Release Inventory. (U:02/08/04)
Permit Compliance System (PCS) Waste Water Discharges
Companies that have permits to discharge wastewater directly to streams, lakes or the ocean are required to have a permit. Many companies must treat wastewater to reduce the toxicity prior to discharging. It is often useful to compare the chemicals in the permit to the chemicals used in the plant.
