Working families – ready for a change
This November, working people will tell Congress “enough is enough.” Six years of Republican control have left ordinary Americans with stagnant wages, unaffordable health care, soaring energy prices and fewer job and education prospects.
The 109th Congress has pushed through tax breaks for the wealthy while gutting programs for seniors. They’ve passed bad trade agreements that export our jobs and depress our wages. They want to privatize Social Security – a move that would bankrupt the program and put tens of thousands of seniors into poverty. They’ve voted themselves generous raises while refusing to increase the minimum wage. And they’ve turned back time on workers’ rights and workplace safety protections.
Working families are gearing up to take back “the people’s branch” from these pro-business bandits on Nov. 7. They’ll support candidates who support their right to good jobs, affordable health care and a secure retirement.
UAW political activists in each of the union’s regions have conducted thorough screenings of candidates for the U.S. Congress, and state and local offices. The UAW’s endorsements – accessible from the drop-down menu at right – are the result of these interviews and a careful examination of the candidates’ records.
