We are at a crucial moment when we must reclaim the promise of public education — not as it is today or as it was in the past, but as it can be — to fulfill our collective obligation to help all children succeed. Our public schools represent our nation’s commitment to helping all children dream their dreams and achieve them. A high-quality public education for all children is an economic necessity, an anchor of democracy, a moral imperative and a fundamental civil right, without which none of our other rights can be fully realized.
We need your help. None of us can be bystanders. As parents, community members and civic leaders, we must join together with the American Federation of Teachers to reclaim the promise of public education by fighting for safe, strong neighborhood public schools where parents want to send their children, teachers want to teach, and students have a well-rounded, engaging curriculum. All of us are connected to public education in some way, which is why we need you to join us by visiting http://go.aft.org/promise and pledge to Reclaim the Promise today.
Thank you for joining us.
P.S. If you have any ideas or questions about Reclaiming the Promise, or want to get more involved, please contact firstname.lastname@example.org.
